What Are Digital Products?

Digital products are products that do not require shipping. Examples include event tickets, masterclass registrations, webinar slots, coaching sessions, downloadable PDFs, e-books, templates, digital guides, software licenses, membership access, exclusive content, and online course materials.

Unlike physical products, customers do not need to enter a delivery address during checkout. Instead, they simply provide their contact information, complete payment, and receive the digital item or wait for the merchant to dispatch the required information.

Creating a Digital Product

To create a digital product, start by navigating to the Products section in your Uzanga admin and create a new product as you normally would. Upload a product image, enter a title, add a description, select a category, and set your price. You can also define how many slots are available if you're selling something with limited capacity such as a workshop, event, consultation session, or masterclass.

The most important step is setting the Delivery Type to Digital. Once you select this option, Uzanga understands that the product does not require shipping and will present the appropriate checkout experience to your customers.

Choosing How Customers Receive Their Digital Product

Uzanga supports two fulfillment methods for digital products.

The first option is Immediate Delivery. This is ideal for products such as PDFs, e-books, templates, guides, downloadable files, software keys, and other content that can be delivered automatically immediately after payment.

The second option is Merchant Dispatch. This option is useful when every customer requires a unique response from you. Examples include event registrations, coaching sessions, appointment bookings, consultation requests, masterclass enrollment, unique access codes, and personalized digital products. With Merchant Dispatch, the customer pays first, then you log into your admin and send the required information afterward.

Selling Event Tickets and Masterclass Slots

A common use case is selling access to events and training sessions.

For example, if you're running a masterclass, customers can visit your website, choose a slot, complete payment, and wait for you to assign them to a specific date or session. Rather than managing registrations manually through WhatsApp, everything is tracked through orders inside your Uzanga admin.

When setting up the product, you can create custom delivery fields that allow you to send information to the customer after purchase. In the example shown in the tutorial, a field called "Date of Class" was created so that the merchant could later send the scheduled class date and time to the customer.

The Customer Checkout Experience

When customers purchase a digital product, they are not asked for shipping details because no physical delivery is required. Instead, they simply enter their contact information, complete payment, and place their order.

After payment, the customer receives an order confirmation and can view the status of their digital delivery. If Merchant Dispatch is being used, they will see a message indicating that the merchant is preparing their digital item or booking information.

This creates a much cleaner experience compared to asking customers to send screenshots, payment confirmations, or registration details through messaging apps.

Dispatching Digital Products After Payment

Once a customer places an order, you'll receive the order in your Uzanga admin.

Open the order, navigate to the Digital tab, and enter the information the customer purchased. This could be a class date, event schedule, access code, meeting link, ticket number, registration details, download instructions, or any other information relevant to the purchase.

After submitting the information, Uzanga automatically notifies the customer through email and SMS, allowing them to access their order and view the digital content you have provided.
